Not one to stay put or be pigeon-holed in a time which revels in classifying artists, Black Cracker´s work has resisted and presented a problem to those who insist on stretching the chaotic web of creation into a straight evolutionary line. Acting as a prism, Black Cracker presents his expression in a myriad of forms: depending from which angle you look at him, the light he reflects will reach your eyes in a specific pattern, his sounds will reach your eardrums and make them vibrate with tenderness or action. His charisma comes from a strong sense of community and the belief that the artist and his listeners are rowing the boat together. This is an art form in itself, breaking the hierarchy between stage and audience. Video, music, design and text: Black Cracker has adapted to all these climates. Somewhere between titanium foam and silk fiber, he brings together tenderness and resilience. Of his own, Unto himself.

After a string of collaborations and productions for artists such as Bunny Rabbit, CocoRosie and Creep, Black Cracker moved to Berlin and hit the scene with the release of his solo album Tears of a clown, followed by Till there’s nothing left with Grand Pianoramax. He then hit the road to tour with both projects, and became a constant guest of European jazz festivals, presenting his amazing improv skills, earned and mastered through his years as an award-winning slam poet performer and on the stage as a musician. Attuned to a strong sense of community, in 2014 he founded the platform Gully Havoc, responsible for releasing his mixtape Poster Boy, organizing an anthology of international Berlin-based writers and a series of performances, readings and concerts in the German capital. All this work has come to a head this year, witnessing his talents take to many fronts: a collaboration with Blixa Bargeld, his feature on the Converse global campaign “Made By You”, for which he has just released a new track and video made in collaboration with Pussykrew, and the premiere of his theatrical piece Gritty Glamour at Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, cowritten with the performance ensemble. At the moment, he works on a dance show choreographed by Josep Caballero García for Hebbel am Ufer, called T/HE/Y.
